Backyard Herbalism: A course in grassroots medicine for the people

Six Sundays: May through October 10am-1pm. Taught by Hannah Jacobson-Hardy of Sweet Birch Herbals

Cost: $45/ class + $10 material fee or $240 for six-class series + $60 materials fee

Materials fee includes the ingredients, containers, and labels for your products to take home.

Location: Full Kettle Farm, 111 N. Silver Lane, Sunderland, MA

Dates: May 14th, June 18th, July 16th, August 20th, September 17th, Oct 15th (10am-1pm)

The classes will be held outdoors on the farm, weather dependent, so please dress appropriately.

Medicinal Herb Production:  Herb farming with Greg Disterhoft

Sunday June 25th, 1-4pm at Full Kettle

Cost: NOFA Mass member - $36, NOFA non-member - $45 (Walk-in NOFA member $41, non-member $50)

scholarships available for new farmers

Location: Full Kettle Farm, 111 N. Silver Lane, Sunderland, MA

Description: Learn the ins and outs of commercial medicinal herb production, from field to drying room. Participants will get an overview of the production and planning methodologies that Full Kettle uses. The workshop will also focus on post production handling and herb drying for teas, oils, and other value added products.

Brittany Wood Nickerson: Stories and Reflections on Thyme Herbal

Sunday May 7th, 10-1pm at Full Kettle

Cost: $15-30 sliding scale

Description: Stories are a powerful part of how we learn and grow as well as how we seek inspiration from the world around us. In this talk, Brittany will share her stories and experiences as an herbalist; how her work and Thyme Herbal have been shaped by her life's path and the influences of her community. Brittany will also share her own most cherished forms of self-care and the herbal therapeutics that she relies on to keep balanced in all area's of her life.

Jade Alicandro Mace: The Art of Kitchen Herbalism

Thursday June 22nd, 6-7:30pm

Cost: $10-20 sliding scale

Description: Come down to Full Kettle to hear from Valley herbal expert jade Alicandro Mace teach about the use of culinary herbs as medicine in the kitchen. Full Kettle grows a wide variety of herbs that blur the boundaries of medicine and food. We'll get a chance to hang out with these plants on a beautiful early summer evening. Jade operates Milk and Honey Herbs, an herbal wönderland located in Leverett MA. She teaches classes year round, maintains a diverse herbal polyculture, and offers private health consultations for those seeking the endless benefits of grassroots healthcare.
